The new name of the merged congregation is: Shadow of the Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The name is significant to us for two reasons: We walk in faith in the shadow of the cross with Jesus leading us, and the shadow that shows at night on the front of the sanctuary has been an identifying mark for this church in this community for years.
The constitution of our new congregation with the new name has been approved by the Michigan District. Copies of the constitution will be available in the secretary’s office if you wish to have one.
Incorporation papers have been prepared, and the IRS forms have been completed.
Soon, closing services will be planned for both Faith and St. Paul’s, as well as an opening service for Shadow of the Cross. We pray that God continues to guide and bless this congregation as He has both congregations during this merger time.
We must always keep the cross of Christ before us as we unite in worship and ministry!!!
Things to Note:
- The time for the Saturday night service remains at 6 p.m.
- The time for the Sunday morning service has changed to 9:45 a.m.
- Bible class will follow the Sunday morning service
- Offering checks should still be made out to St. Paul’s at this time. When all legal matters have been completed, the new name of the congregation will be used for checks
