Merger Updates

The new name of the merged congregation will be:  Shadow of the Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The constitution has passed the Michigan District’s review committee and a letter should be coming very shortly from the District Office formally declaring approval.

The other legal issues are on hold. All paperwork has been submitted through the proper channels. We are guessing the Internal Revenue Service, which was on shutdown, has our Employer Identification Number request in their possession and will act on it as quickly as possible. Both of these steps are critical to our beginning to use our new name – Shadow of the Cross.

We pray that God continues to guide and bless this congregation as He has both congregations during this merger time. We must always keep the cross of Christ before us as we unite in worship and ministry!!!

Things to Note:

  • The time for the Saturday night service remains at 6 p.m.
  • The time for the Sunday morning service has changed to 9:45 a.m.
  • Bible class will follow the Sunday morning service
  • Until the completion of our merging process, please continue to make out your offering checks to either Faith Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. On the back of the pews you will find offering envelopes for both Faith and St. Paul’s. When all legal matters have been completed, the new name will be used for checks. All loose cash offerings not designated will be equally distributed between both congregations.
