Women’s Ministry

The Michigan District of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (aka Lutheran Women in Mission) has cancelled the convention that was to be held in Gaylord this summer. Instead, it will be held online as a one-day virtual convention on Saturday, July 11. The SOTC delegates, Barbara Hatcher and Dee Sexton, will vote to elect new officers and vote on the missions and ministries to receive mission grants from the mites to be collected in the next two years.

The convention will be streamed live for everyone who wants to “attend” to see the convention. Just go to the website LWML-MI and watch from the comfort of your desk, your couch, your back yard, wherever you want. Think about it. You can get a snack or a drink and come back without missing anything. Seriously, pray for the attendees of the convention, pray that God will lead them to make pleasing decisions to further the mission of the organization, and pray that this new way of holding a convention will be successful.

Current Council of Lutheran Women member ministry organizations have been invited to participate in a mission expo called Mission Focus at CLW’s fall meeting on September 28, 2020.  The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Faith, Troy.  A buffet lunch is included.  Each ministry will host an exhibit table and give a 10-minute presentation.  The goal of the expo is to inform attendees about service opportunities and encourage involvement.

The Council of Lutheran Women’s Luncheon for 2020 was canceled.  The tentative 2021 tentative date is in March.  The honoree chosen for 2020, Dawn Kivimaki, will be honored at the 2021 luncheon.  We would like to thank all of the women who purchased tickets to the 2020 luncheon for donating their ticket money to the Council of Lutheran Women.  See you next year!

Shadow of the Cross Women’s League includes all women of the congregation. It includes membership in the Wayne Oak Hills LWML Zone and the Council of Lutheran Women of Southeast Michigan. All activities are open to all women and include the need for women to volunteer.

General membership meetings are held on the 2nd Sunday of each month, at 9 a.m. Meeting minutes will be placed in the hall for pickup by those who cannot attend the meetings.
